GM Executive Vice President of Global Product Development has put down rumors of a possible GM Ford F-150 Raptor competitor. Mark Reuss told Edmunds, we have a lot of priorities," but a Raptor competitor isn't one of them right now.
There might be one in the future though. A truck based on the Colorado ZR2 concept could happen in the future. That isn't on the docket any time soon though.
Agreed, GM won't leave that much cash on the table... how much money does it take to uprade the suspension, print some new stickers and brochures? as a halo truck there's no telling how many will ogle and end up with a lower truck...
I don't think that he really is saying that they are going to build one. He definitely did not confirm that or anything. I agree that he is not ruling it out for the future, but saying there are other things that are higher priorities is not the same as saying that the hypothetical competitor will get built. It just seems to me that things at the bottom of the priority list probably don't always get built.
I could see a concept happening though. They might do that in order to get people excited and also see if there is enough interest to actually move it to production. Even that I would think we have to wait a while for.
