Maybe you've heard of this already, but one of Ford's suppliers had their plant go up in flames and they have to temporarily stop making the F-150 at the Dearborn plant. Not sure if this production halt affects the Raptor too, but if you order one then the wait may be longer than expected due to parts shortages.
Yeah I just saw mention of this early today, and I believe the halt is expected to be short term. Though I suppose its yet to be determined how much damage has resulted from the fire. This is the downside to relying on outside suppliers for parts. Also looks like the 4,000 employees who work at that plant have been temporarily laid off.
I believe the downtime was around a week and a half, so hopefully Ford can make up for that lost production time. It was actually a pretty serious incident from what I remember reading. Luckily for Ford, the new Ram seems to be encountering just as much trouble with production.
That's not as long as I thought when the story first came out. The fire made it seem like production will grind to a halt until the factory is fixed but it seems like Ford is looking into an alternative source for the parts they need. And they still have some in stock so production will just slow for a while.
