Shelby Baja Raptor

Didn't think it was possible, but the Shelby Baja Raptor has 75 more horsepower than the standard model and the same 3.5-liter Ecoboost twin-turbo V6 engine. That's 525 horsepower and 610 lb.-ft. of torque!

Not bad but what's bad is the limited production which means its rare that someone here will have one. Instead we will be better of getting a tune and doing our own set of performance mods.

Just surprised they were able to squeeze out so much more power from, always thought Ford tuned it for almost maximum hp.

Often just a tune can go a long way to get that sort of increase in power, not always does it require changing out physical parts.

Ford has been cranking out some serious power from small engines for quite a while now. Even though the new Ranger Raptor that's been officially unveiled only hosts a twin-turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel,, they still managed to tune it to crank out 210 hp and 369 pound-feet of torque, which imo is pretty impressive. Don't think its power offering will satisfy enthusiasts but we'll see what other options become available down the line.

It's impressive compared to other pickups in the market, but with a badge like Raptor, one would expect more power and torque coming out of its engine. We'll just have to wait and see if Ford will come out with something that suits the tastes of North American buyers.
