2017 F-150 Raptor Getting More Power and Torque

Ford has finally revealed the 2017 F-150 Raptor's specs and we now know how many ponies itís packing under that hood.

Ditching the old 6.2-liter V8 for a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost six-cylinder engine, the 2017 F-150 Raptor will be cranking out 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. Compared to its predecessor, the new EcoBoost has an extra 39 hp and 76 lb-ft of torque. Also, because the new Raptor has gone on a 500 pound (226kg) diet thanks to an aluminum body and high-strength steel frame, weíre going to see a torque-to-weight ratio improvement of 21%.

On top of this, Ford says the new Raptor is going to have a 23% increase in EPA fuel economy estimates for an average rating of 18 mpg on the highway, 15 mpg in the city and 16 mpg combined. Not the best in terms of fuel economy but all that power doesnít come cheap.

Sending power to all four wheels is a 10-speed automatic transmission that was developed in partnership with GM, itís an innovative transfer case that can switch to four-wheel when needed. Changing the F-150 Raptorís power delivery, throttle response, traction control, and shifting are six drive modes.

Pricing has not been officially announced yet, but a leaked pdf from Autoblog suggests that the base trim F-150 Raptor will set you back $49,520 and the larger Supercrew model could go for $52,505.
