2017 F-150 Raptor Hits the Dunes for Testing

For all those that wanted to see the 2017 raptor being put to work in desert terrain, Ford has done just that recently. Photo's of the 2017 Raptor in action are linked below

Ford has released images showing the new 2017 F-150 Raptor in its natural habitat.

Ford has finished 1,000 miles of testing in Southwestern California with the new 2017 Raptor, racing it over a 66-mile course designed to parallel the Baja 1000. Typical desert terrain including sandy washes, deep-rutted silt beds, steep climbs and slow crawls were all inflicted on the new truck, which managed to lap the course about 25 percent faster than the current truck.

The 2017 Raptor will get its power from the brandís 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, that will make more than 411 hp, with one report suggesting it will produce 450 ponies. A 10-speed automatic transmission will help get power to the ground, while a new terrain select system will tailor the Raptorís characteristics to specific driving situations.

Topping speeds of 100 mph in some places, the new Raptor faced a tabletop jump that sent it up two feet at the end of each lap. These early build prototypes were made up of a mix of 2015 and 2017 Raptor components.

The new 2017 F-150 Raptor goes on sales in the fall of 2016.

Certainly looks like a lot of fun. I've never really driven through large sand dunes, probably because I don't know where to find some near me. Watching videos and seeing pictures is probably the closest I'll get to this.

Good chance he was stuck and trying to get some motion going on... going in reverse and quite aggressive while doing so.
These photos need video's to go with them
