Ford builds its 5 millionth EcoBoost Engine

Ford has built over 5 million EcoBoost engines now! Wow.

The 5 millionth EcoBoost engine went into a Ford Focus.

Just three years ago Ford produced its 500,000th EcoBoost-equipped vehicle. In October 2013 the company hit the two-million mark. Ford now produces over 200,000 EcoBoost engines each month.

The engine comes in many different formats including 1.5-, 1.6-, 2.0- and 2.3-liter four-cylinder versions, and 2.7- and 3.5-liter V6 variants.

That is quite a lot of ecoboost engines to have out there but it's expected considering they've been putting it into just about anything they can.

I'm sure police fleet vehicles contributed a lot

Yea, they have put them in basically all their cars now so it isn't that surprising. I am always floored by how many cars are produced and sold each year. It's incredible. Where do they all go, and where do the old ones go to too?

Yea, that makes me more confident about buying a new Ford too. Their engines seem to run really well. I'm not worried about problems since they are building quite the reputation on this engine.

So is the EcoBoost engine not quite as great as I thought? Is this it's one fatal flaw?

I suppose it can have a kryptonite if that means that it is the engine equivalent of Superman. LOL
