THe changeover to aluminium has hampered profits this time around. I don't expect that to go on for much longer...

Big risk but we'll have to wait and see how things go over the year for them. Could turn churn out a big win.

Its just the costs of changeover that are dinging them right now. That was a TON of CapEx all at once. Now as things return to normalcy and the CapEx starts producing product I think we might see that ford actually comes out further ahead profit wise... Especially if what they're doing with the F150 is a test bed for full model changeover to aluminium. Or at least a large scale shift in their manufacturing methodology...

They can't pass on the cost to the consumer, it'll become a problem for them with pricing and their pricing vs the competition. It doesn't work like that.

Maybe if they roll it out on more models then they can benefit from economy of scale.

Well yeah, numbers are everything and the wider they can spread themselves doing that, the better it works out for them.
